Paid shortcuts are scams. ## Summary Professional requirements: STR and SIP Low scam risk - Dentists are medical workers (tenaga medis) under Indonesia's Law 17/2023, which requires at least professional-level education. - A dental graduate may practise only after professional training, the national competency exam, the professional oath and an internship. - Government Regulation 28/2024 requires every Indonesian dentist from a professional programme to complete an internship of up to one year before practising. - A July 2026 Ministry of Health presentation (May 2026 data) put dentists as the largest gap among nine health worker types at puskesmas. - A dentist's STR registration is valid for life; the SIP practice licence lasts five years and covers one place of practice. ## What does a dentist do in Indonesia? A dentist examines, diagnoses and treats diseases of the teeth, gums and mouth: filling and extracting teeth, removing tartar, doing root canal treatment within their privileges, prescribing medicines and teaching prevention. Law 17/2023 Article 198 classes dentists as medical workers separate from doctors, made up of dentists, dental specialists and dental subspecialists. Patients who need further care are referred. Yes. Government Regulation 28/2024 Article 597 requires every Indonesian dentist from a domestic or foreign professional programme to complete a supervised internship before practising, lasting up to one year. At a November 2024 briefing, the Ministry of Health said the dental internship lasts six months.
