# Village facilitators in Indonesia: duties, levels, contracts, recruitment and fake ads

## What does a village facilitator do in Indonesia?

Village facilitators help villages carry out development and community empowerment. Article 13 of Permendes PDT 3/2025 says local village facilitators support data collection, planning, delivery and oversight of village development, while village facilitators at subdistrict level also speed up village fund disbursement and reporting paperwork and mentor local facilitators. Every level logs daily activities in the Village Information System.

- Helping with paperwork for the disbursement, use and reporting of village funds at subdistrict level.
- Supporting village-owned enterprises (BUM Desa) and cooperation between villages.

- Mentoring local village facilitators and village empowerment volunteers (village facilitator level).
- Facilitating, educating, mediating and advocating for village residents.

## What are the requirements to become a village facilitator?

Village facilitators must pass an official recruitment. Article 10 of Permendes PDT 3/2025 says recruitment is run by a unit of the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, may be supported by provincial governments, and the results are set by a ministry official. Competence is shown by a professional certification body's certificate or other documents, such as proof of at least two years' work in government, economic, social, cultural or technical fields (Articles 15 and 16).

## What does a typical village facilitator job description look like?

Village facilitators are not hired through private job ads but through ministry selections whose notices are posted on the Pengumuman (announcements) page of kemendesa.go.id. The only official 2026 selection we found there was for central-level community empowerment experts, and it ended in August 2026. We wrote the description below ourselves from the duties set in Permendes PDT 3/2025; it is not an open vacancy.

## How much do village facilitators earn?

Village facilitators receive an honorarium and operational support, not a civil servant salary. Article 12 of Permendes PDT 3/2025 says the honorarium and operational support already include the social insurance component, and facilitators must be active members of employment social insurance. KarirAman has not verified the honorarium for each level, so we do not show figures yet. Be wary of ads that promise a very large fee.

## What education suits a village facilitator?

Education requirements for each village facilitator level are set in the recruitment announcement, so no single degree is required. Social sciences, community development, economics, engineering or public administration backgrounds are close to the work. Articles 15 and 16 of Permendes PDT 3/2025 ask for competence shown by a professional certification body's certificate, or other documents such as a training certificate based on the national competency standard (SKKNI) for professional facilitators.

## How do village facilitator contracts and performance reviews work?

Professional facilitators are contracted by the ministry's commitment-making official, not appointed as civil servants (Article 12 of Permendes PDT 3/2025). Performance is self-assessed through daily reports and reviewed level by level, and the evaluation decides whether a contract is extended or ended (Article 18). In February 2026 the villages minister said the evaluation targeted problems such as second jobs, never turning up for duty or not re-registering.

## How is a village facilitator different from a village official or a PKH facilitator?

A village facilitator is a contract worker of the villages ministry who supports villages with development and empowerment. Village officials, such as the village secretary and hamlet heads, are appointed by the village head with the regent's approval and paid from the village budget under PP 16/2026. PKH facilitators work for the social affairs ministry's aid programme. Village cooperative business assistants are hired by the cooperatives ministry on short contracts.

## What should you do if you see a suspicious village facilitator job post?

A genuine village facilitator vacancy is announced by the ministry or a regional government, is free, and never promises a pass. Before filling in a form or sending personal data:

1. Check the notice against the Pengumuman (announcements) page on kemendesa.go.id, where the villages ministry posts its selection notices, or against the website of the relevant office in your region.
2. Do not pay any registration, training, uniform or "smoothing" fee.
3. Do not send your ID card, diploma or bank details through links shared in groups or private messages.

Interview questions for village facilitator jobs often cover why you want to serve the public, how you communicate with residents, keeping residents' data accurate and confidential, how you respond to offers of money, and readiness for field work. **Why they ask:** Much service and support work happens in residents' homes or on site.

**How to answer:** Answer honestly about your readiness and mention field experience, including how you keep yourself safe.

**How do you write activity reports that can be accounted for?**

**Why they ask:** Activities that use public money or data must be open to checking.

**How to answer:** Explain how you record activities with dates, evidence and figures that can be checked, and submit them on time.

- **Why did you apply to this company?** Mention one or two real things you learned from the company's official website, such as its business or services, and link them to your skills.
- **Why are you interested in this role?** Pick two tasks from the job advert, describe similar things you have done, and say which part you most want to grow in.
- **What are your strengths?** Name one or two strengths and give short proof: the situation, what you did and the result.
- **What is your weakness?** Choose a real weakness that is not central to the job, then explain what you are doing to improve it.
- **Tell me about a problem at work or school that you solved.** Use the STAR pattern: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Focus on what you yourself did and what you learned.
- **How do you work in a team, including when people disagree?** Give a real example of listening, explaining your view politely and finding a solution everyone accepted.
- **How do you handle pressure or tight deadlines?** Explain how you set priorities, such as a task list or checking with your supervisor, and give one example of the outcome.
- **Where do you see yourself in two or three years?** Mention the skills you want to master and the responsibility you hope to take on, without promising things you cannot know.
- **What salary do you expect?** First research the pay range for the role and the local minimum wage where you would work. Give a range, then ask whether the figure is gross or net and which allowances apply.
- **When can you start?** Give a realistic date. If you are still employed, mention the notice period in your current contract so you do not break it.
- **Do you have any questions for us?** Ask about the contract type, working hours, base pay and allowances, the next selection step and when results are announced. Ask for the offer in writing.

## What scams target people looking for village facilitator jobs?

The scam the villages ministry has warned about is a fake village facilitator recruitment notice on social media. On 26 September 2025 the ministry said the circulating news about recruiting professional facilitators was a hoax and that official recruitment carries no fee. In July 2026 a local village facilitator registration link asking for personal data and a Telegram number circulated; a national media fact-check found it false. Report illegal levies to the authorities.

## How are village facilitators recruited, and when does registration open?

The villages ministry posts its professional facilitator selection notices on the Pengumuman (announcements) page of kemendesa.go.id; the 2026 central-level expert notices and results are there, with requirements, schedule and how to apply. Regional governments may also recruit their own facilitators in coordination with the ministry (Article 11 of Permendes PDT 3/2025). As of 8 October 2026 that page listed no recruitment of local village facilitators or village facilitators, and KarirAman has no such vacancy.

**Is village facilitator recruitment open in 2026?**

Not for local village facilitators or village facilitators: as of 8 October 2026 the Pengumuman (announcements) page on kemendesa.go.id listed no recruitment for them. From June to August 2026 the ministry's human resources agency (BPSDM) ran only a small, free selection of central-level community empowerment experts (TAPM Pusat) through a ministry selection committee, and it has ended. In February 2026 the minister said future recruitment would be run by universities with computer-based tests, but no schedule has been announced.

**Does applying to be a village facilitator cost money?**

No. The villages ministry's July 2026 notice for the central-level expert selection said the whole selection carried no fee and told applicants not to trust anyone promising a pass in return for money. In September 2025 the ministry also asked people to report illegal levies by individuals to the authorities. Requests for money for forms, training or a guaranteed pass are signs of a scam.
