## What does a warehouse helper do in Indonesia?

Warehouse helpers (helper gudang) do the physical work in a warehouse: picking items for orders, packing and labelling them, loading and unloading trucks, and arranging shelves. In online-shop warehouses, helpers use barcode scanners to record goods coming in and going out. The job calls for care and speed, especially during online shopping peaks.

- Arrange stock on shelves and keep aisles tidy and safe.

## What do you need to work as a warehouse helper in Indonesia?

Warehouse work is not a licensed profession, and vacancies usually ask for an SMP, SMA or SMK certificate, good health and care. Age, height or appearance requirements unrelated to the work deserve questioning, because Minister of Manpower Circular M/6/HK.04/V/2025 bars discrimination on any basis in recruitment. Driving a forklift is different: Ministry of Manpower Regulation 8/2020 requires operators to prove competence with a competency certificate and authority with a K3 licence (Lisensi K3), which ads often call an SIO.

## How much does a warehouse picker packer earn in Indonesia?

No warehouse helper-specific pay data meets our standard yet, so that row in the table reads Not enough data. The floor is clear: under Government Regulation (PP) 36/2021 Articles 23 and 24, workers with less than one year of service may not be paid below the minimum wage where they work, which is the 2026 minimum wage (UMK) of the regency or city. For daily workers (DW), make sure the way daily pay and overtime are calculated is written into the daily work agreement.

## Which education routes lead to warehouse work?

Warehouse helpers need no special education; many companies hire SMP or SMA graduates and train them on site. The Logistics SKKNI (Kepmenaker 94/2019) includes units such as receiving and storing stock, and the SKKNI for lifting and handling equipment (Kepmenaker 180/2024) includes operating a forklift. On 7 October 2026 the Ministry of Manpower's Skillhub said its training is free for trainees, and certain courses lead to a BNSP certificate or an SIO.

## Can you work as a warehouse helper abroad?

The official route for warehouse work in Japan is still being prepared. According to the Immigration Services Agency of Japan's official explainer revised on 17 July 2026, a logistics warehousing field was added to the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) scheme by Cabinet decision on 23 January 2026, and intake will start only once preparations are complete. Be wary of agents already promising a quick departure. Check ISA's site, and go only through a licensed agency (P3MI) or KP2MI.

## What rights do daily warehouse workers have?

For daily warehouse workers, PP 35/2021 Article 10 allows daily work agreements for work that varies in timing and volume, provided the worker works fewer than 21 days a month. If you work 21 days or more for 3 consecutive months, the daily agreement no longer applies and your employment becomes open-ended (PKWTT) by law. Daily work agreements must be in writing (Article 11), and your employer must register you with BPJS (Law 24/2011 Article 15).

**Legal status:** the Labour Protection Law was approved by the DPR and the Government on 6 October 2026 but has not been promulgated and its text is not public. Until it takes effect, the rules on this page apply.

## What is the career path for a warehouse helper?

Careful warehouse helpers can usually move up to checker or team leader, forklift operator once they hold a competency certificate and K3 licence, warehouse administrator and then warehouse supervisor. Experience with scanning systems and stock counts also helps for logistics staff, inventory roles, airport baggage handling or mining work. A competency certificate from a certification body (LSP) licensed by BNSP helps when applying for higher posts.

## Which job scams target warehouse helper applicants?

A common trick is a broker (calo) who asks for a placement payment so the applicant gets hired at a warehouse or factory. The Ministry of Manpower highlighted brokering of this kind in Karawang, Antara reported on 6 February 2025, and says a fee in recruitment is almost certainly a scam. Also watch for demands to hand over your original diploma and for forms asking for bank details before a formal interview.

**Can daily warehouse workers become permanent staff?**

Yes, under the rules. PP 35/2021 Article 10(4) says a daily worker who works 21 days or more for 3 consecutive months or longer becomes, by law, a worker on an open-ended contract (PKWTT). Keep your attendance records, payslips and a copy of your daily work agreement as evidence.

**Do warehouse helpers need a forklift operator licence (SIO)?**

Only if your job involves driving a forklift. Helpers who pick and pack goods need no special licence. For forklift operator posts, vacancies usually ask for an operator licence (Surat Izin Operator, SIO); the Ministry of Manpower's Skillhub says some of its training leads to an SIO for trainees who pass the competency test. Do not pay a recruiter for a certificate promised without training and a test.

**Must overtime be paid during online shopping peaks?**

Yes. Under PP 35/2021 Article 27, an employer who makes staff work beyond normal hours must pay overtime. Article 28 requires an instruction from the employer and the worker's written or digital consent, and Article 26 caps overtime at 4 hours a day and 18 hours a week, not counting overtime on weekly rest days or public holidays.

**Are there official warehouse jobs in Japan yet?**
