## What is the minimum wage in Taiwan?

Taiwan sets a monthly and an hourly minimum wage. The 2027 figures were decided by the review council on 24 September 2026 and approved by the Executive Yuan on 1 October 2026. Live-in household caregivers and domestic helpers are not covered by Taiwan's Labor Standards Act, so the last row of the table follows a separate Ministry of Labor pay rule. All figures are official floors, not offered wages.

## How much may an agency deduct from your pay in Taiwan?

According to Taiwan's Ministry of Labor, the only fee a Taiwanese agency may charge a foreign worker is a monthly service fee, with a cap that falls with each year worked in Taiwan (press releases of 2016 and 2018). It may be charged only after a written contract is signed and the service has actually been provided, never in advance, and the agency may not charge for a change of employer. A fee taken in advance or above the cap is a red flag. This fee is separate from placement costs in Indonesia, which Law 18/2017 Article 30(1) says may not be charged to Indonesian migrant workers.

Under Ministerial Regulation P2MI 2/2026, KDEI (Indonesian Economic and Trade Office) is a non-governmental economic office based in Taipei. The regulation says migrant workers report their arrival to the Indonesian mission or KDEI, and that KDEI helps with travel documents for the trip home.

Official vacancies are on the SISKOP2MI vacancy list, which can be filtered by destination country, including Taiwan. For the SP2T scheme, selection notices are on the KP2MI website.

**How much may an agency deduct from my pay in Taiwan?**

Taiwan's Ministry of Labor lets a Taiwanese agency charge a foreign worker only a monthly service fee up to the official cap, after a written contract and actual service. It may not be collected in advance, and fees for changing employer are banned. A fee taken in advance or above the cap is a red flag you can report on the 1955 line.

**What is the age limit for working in Taiwan?**

Age limits differ by legal route: Live-in household caregiver: at least 18 years; Migrant factory worker (manufacturing): at least 18 years; Migrant fishing crew on Taiwanese vessels: at least 18 years. Check the route page again before you apply.
