KarirAman methodology

How KarirAman checks sources, presents salary and wage data, verifies vacancies, runs the job checker and decides when a page is ready to be indexed.

Summary

  • Every source has a verification level. Unverified sources never appear, and a page that cites one fails to build.
  • Pages whose data does not meet the threshold are not indexed by search engines, or are not built at all.
  • Missing data is shown as 'Not enough data yet'. It is never guessed or filled with estimates.
  • Separate pages explain the salary method, vacancy verification and the job checker.

What does the methodology section explain?

The methodology section explains how KarirAman arrives at every figure and every judgement on the site. There are three detailed pages:

How we write and review content is set out in our editorial policy.

How do we rate a source?

Every KarirAman source has one of four verification levels. "Primary" means we read the official document directly, such as a BPS release or the PDF of a regulation. "Official statement via media" means an official figure or statement we found in a news report and check again against the official source. "Third party" means a non-government source. "Unverified" means we could not confirm it; such sources never appear, and a page that cites one fails to build.

Every source record keeps its address, the date we opened it and a note on what we read. Sources that are hard for machines to open, such as sites with anti-bot checks, are checked by hand by an editor.

Which thresholds do we use?

KarirAman never builds pages from keyword lists. A page is only indexed when it has enough data. The thresholds that apply today:

  • Section pages, such as the list of roles or the list of scam patterns, are indexed when they list at least 3 published pages in the same language.
  • Salary ranges from KarirAman's verified vacancies appear only when the sample has at least 30 vacancies.
  • Pages about routes to work abroad are indexed only if their status was re-verified within the last 120 days.
  • A provincial minimum wage page is built once its provincial minimum wage (UMP) is verified, and its title mentions district wages (UMK) or a "complete" list only when that data is actually there.
  • The verified jobs list is indexed only when at least 5 vacancies are still open.
  • A city page needs a verified UMK, a verified local labour office (Disnaker) contact, a local note of at least 250 words with at least 3 sourced facts, and at least 3 verified vacancies or enough local salary data.

Pages that do not meet the requirement are built with a "noindex" tag or not built at all. This is decided when the site is built, never by a script in the browser.

How is a page checked before publication?

Every page starts as a draft prepared with AI assistance and is flagged as such. Every fact in it is then checked critically against its official source and recorded in a claims ledger with the article or page it comes from; a fact we cannot confirm is removed. Automated checks reject unverified sources, money figures typed into the text and an empty claims ledger on a high-risk topic. A page that passes is approved for publication by Kaiser Khan (editor). If the text changes, the page goes back to draft until it is approved again. Every page also records its next review date, and mistakes we find are logged on the corrections page. The details are in our editorial policy.

How do we handle missing data?

When there is not enough data, KarirAman shows "Not enough data yet" or "Not published". We do not guess, project or borrow figures from another region. For example, a district or city whose UMK we have not verified is marked "Not verified yet" and is never filled with a figure from a news report we have not matched.

How is official data updated?

Official data is updated when its publisher releases new data. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) publishes the national labour force survey (Sakernas) several times a year, and the figures on KarirAman are updated after each release. UMP and UMK are updated after each governor's decree. We check licensed placement agencies (P3MI) and the status of routes abroad against KP2MI's SISKOP2MI and the websites of destination governments.

How do we judge the warning signs in a job ad?

KarirAman's warning signs, including those used by the job checker, come from official warnings. For example, Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) lists requests for money for administration, training or uniforms as a sign of a fake vacancy. Every rule names its source. The details are in how the job checker works.

Frequently asked questions

Does KarirAman make its own salary estimates?

No. KarirAman does not produce estimates. We show minimum wages from governors' decrees, average wages from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), official pay scales and, later, ranges from verified vacancies once the sample is large enough. When there is not enough data, the page says so.

Why are some KarirAman pages missing from Google?

Pages whose data does not yet meet the threshold, such as a section with too few published pages or a route abroad that has not been re-verified, are deliberately marked so that search engines do not index them. They are indexed again once they meet the requirement.
