Working in New Zealand through legal routes

Indonesians can work in New Zealand on an AEWV from an accredited employer. The working holiday visa is not open to Indonesians. Pay and risks.

Summary

  • The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) needs a full-time job offer of at least 30 hours a week from an accredited employer.
  • Immigration New Zealand declines an AEWV if the applicant or their agent offered money to the employer for a job offer.
  • New Zealand's adult minimum wage applies per hour from 1 April 2026.
  • Under Law 18/2017 Article 30(1), Indonesian migrant workers may not be charged placement costs.

How can you check a New Zealand job offer?

Make sure the employer is accredited and has an approved job check for your position; that employer sends you the link to the AEWV application form. Never pay to get a job offer, because INZ declines AEWVs in that case. If an agency in Indonesia is involved, make sure it is an active P3MI on SISKOP2MI.
