How is the S Pass different from the Employment Pass?
The S Pass is for associate professionals and technicians, with a salary threshold benchmarked to the top one-third of that group's pay in Singapore by age. MOM raised the S Pass threshold for new applications from 1 September 2025 and will raise it again for new applications from 1 January 2027. Renewals of passes expiring from 1 January 2028 also use the new threshold. The financial services sector has higher thresholds.

Frequently asked questions
Can the S Pass be used for factory work?
The S Pass is for associate professionals and technicians earning at least MOM's salary threshold, not for entry-level factory work. Manufacturing and construction Work Permits are not available to Indonesians, so factory jobs in Singapore offered to Indonesian passport holders deserve suspicion.
Is a degree required for an S Pass?
According to MOM, declaring qualifications in the application is optional. If one is declared, the employer is responsible for making sure it is authentic and awarded by an accredited institution from the application form's list.
If I go independently, what are my obligations?
Law 18/2017 Article 63 lets independent Indonesian migrant workers work for legal-entity employers. All employment risks are yours, and you must report to the labour authority and the Indonesian mission in Singapore. Article 5 of the same law also requires every migrant worker to be registered for social security.
