What are Indonesia's public holidays and collective leave days in 2027?

Indonesia's 2027 public holidays and collective leave days (cuti bersama) are set by the joint decree (SKB) of the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Manpower and the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Numbers 1205, 3 and 2 of 2026, signed on 15 September 2026. It lists 18 public holidays and 8 collective leave days. Isra Mikraj appears twice: 5 January 2027 (1448 AH) and 26 December 2027 (1449 AH).

The dates of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha 1448 AH, and their collective leave days, are still provisional. Diktum KEDUA of the decree leaves 1 Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha 1448 AH to a decision of the Minister of Religious Affairs. The table marks those dates, and we update it on the day that decision is published.

Does collective leave come out of private-sector workers' annual leave?

It can, depending on your employer's rules. Diktum KEEMPAT of the 2027 holiday decree says collective leave reduces workers' annual leave under the laws and the rules that apply in each workplace. Diktum KEENAM leaves collective leave in private companies to each company's management. In practice, management decides whether staff get collective leave days off and whether those days come out of annual leave.

The annual leave itself is guaranteed by law. Law 13/2003 Article 79(3), as amended by Law 6/2023, requires employers to give at least 12 working days of annual leave after 12 months of continuous work. How annual leave is taken is set in the employment contract, the company regulations or the collective agreement (Article 79(4)).

What to check before the end of the year:

1. Whether your employer gives staff the 2027 collective leave days off, and which ones.
2. Whether those days are deducted from your annual leave, and how much leave you will have left.
3. What your employment contract, company regulations or collective agreement say. Keep the company's official announcement as proof.

Civil servants (ASN) take collective leave under their own regulations (Diktum KELIMA), not a company decision.

Can my employer make me work on a public holiday, and what is the pay?

Yes, but only on conditions and with overtime pay. Law 13/2003 Article 85(1), which Law 6/2023 did not amend, says workers do not have to work on official public holidays, including the national public holidays the government sets (Presidential Decree 8/2024 and the 2027 decree). An employer may have you work that day if the work must run continuously or by agreement between you and the employer, and must pay overtime (Article 85(2) and (3)).

Overtime pay on public holidays is set by PP 35/2021 Article 31 and depends on your working pattern, a 6-day or 5-day week. The table below comes straight from the overtime rule set this site uses. Overtime on a public holiday does not count toward the daily and weekly overtime limits (PP 35/2021 Article 26(2)).

The hourly wage is the monthly wage divided by 173 (PP 35/2021 Article 32(2)).

Collective leave days are listed separately from public holidays (Annex B of the decree), and the decree says nothing about pay for private-sector staff who work on a collective leave day. If you work on one, check your rights in your employment contract, company regulations or collective agreement, and ask for confirmation in writing.

When is the THR deadline in 2027?

The religious holiday allowance (THR) is due at least 7 days before the worker's religious holiday (Permenaker 6/2016 Article 5(4)), and it is paid for each worker's own religious holiday (Article 5(1)). For Eid al-Fitr 1448 AH, the deadline counted from the decree's date is an estimate, because the Eid date awaits the Minister of Religious Affairs' decision. The Minister of Manpower's circular on THR for 2027 has not been published.

Permenaker 6/2016 Article 1 point 2 names the religious holidays for THR: Eid al-Fitr (Idul Fitri) for Muslim workers, Christmas for Catholic and Protestant workers, Nyepi for Hindu workers, Vesak (Waisak) for Buddhist workers and Chinese New Year (Imlek) for Confucian workers. So workers who celebrate Christmas, Nyepi, Vesak or Chinese New Year receive THR before their own holiday, unless the employment contract, company regulations or collective agreement say otherwise (Article 5(3)).

What about workers in public services (hospitals, electricity, transport)?

Workers in public services may still be rostered on 2027 public holidays and collective leave days. Diktum KETIGA of the decree asks units, institutions and companies that serve the public directly, such as hospitals, community health centres (puskesmas), telecommunications, electricity, drinking water, fire services, security and public order, banking and transport, to arrange their staff's assignments on those days under the laws and regulations.

For private-sector workers, those rules are Law 13/2003 Article 85 and Minister of Manpower Decree KEP.233/MEN/2003. Article 3 of that decree lists work that by its nature must run continuously, including health services, transport, post and telecommunications, electricity, clean water, oil and gas supply, tourism, supermarkets and shopping centres, mass media and security. An employer who has staff work on an official public holiday must pay overtime (Article 5), at the multipliers in the overtime table above.

When are the long weekends in 2027?

For workers on a 5-day week who also get collective leave days off, the dates in the decree of 15 September 2026 give 6 breaks of 3 days or more in 2027. The longest falls in March, when Nyepi, Eid al-Fitr and their collective leave days are close together. Without collective leave, only 4 such breaks remain. This table is our calculation from the decree's dates, not part of the decree.
