Second, through KP2MI's SP2T scheme, which in 2026 was still announcing interview selection for waves III and IV. Taiwan opened direct hiring of Indonesian factory workers in July 2019, with the Direct Hiring Service Center under Taiwan's Ministry of Labor and KDEI Taipei on the Taiwan side.

Taiwan's minimum wage applies to workers covered by its Labor Standards Act, including factory workers. Live-in household caregivers and domestic helpers are not covered, so the rise from 1 January 2027 does not apply to them, according to Focus Taiwan on 24 September 2026. The Taiwan Ministry of Labor's official survey found that regular pay of migrant workers in businesses rose in 2025 mainly because of the minimum wage increase.

Taiwan's Ministry of Labor says the only fee a Taiwanese agency may charge a foreign worker is a monthly service fee, with a cap that falls with each year worked in Taiwan (press releases of 2016 and 2018). It may be charged only after a written contract is signed and the service has actually been provided, never in advance, and the agency may not charge for a change of employer. If you are overcharged, report it on the 1955 line. This is separate from placement costs in Indonesia, which may not be charged to Indonesian migrant workers.

SP2T (Special Placement Program to Taiwan) is a KP2MI placement scheme to Taiwan. In 2026 KP2MI announced interview selection for waves III and IV on its website. The notices we read did not set out how costs are shared, so ask KP2MI directly before you pay anything.
Can I change factory after arriving in Taiwan?
Your work permit in Taiwan is applied for by your employer with Taiwan's Ministry of Labor. Do not work for anyone else outside the official process. For questions about your rights and changing employer, use the foreign worker consultation and complaint service on the Taiwan Ministry of Labor's official portal, or contact KDEI Taipei.
May an agency in Taiwan deduct a service fee from my pay every month?
Yes, but only a monthly service fee within the caps set by Taiwan's Ministry of Labor, and only after a written contract is signed and the service has actually been provided. It may not be collected in advance, and the agency may not charge you for changing employer. The cap for each year is in the agency fee table on this page. Placement costs in Indonesia still follow Law 18/2017 Article 30(1) and the Placement Agreement.
